MELBOURNE, Fla.-AirNet said it received purchase orders for about $5 million in products and services from an African GSM operator. The orders will help expand wireless coverage throughout 10 cities in an African GSM market, AirNet said.
The GSM operator will also have exclusive AirNet supply rights for any future base station sales.
AirNet supplies wireless base stations and other telecommunications equipment. The company said it has received about $28 million in new purchase orders from customers in the United States, Asia and Africa since its restructuring last September. About $10 million of the orders are being deployed in Afghanistan as part of the country’s reconstruction efforts.
