TOKYO-With its competitors’ next-generation services clearly outpacing its own offerings, NTT DoCoMo Inc. reported it will cut i-mode packet transmission fees for PDC and FOMA customers beginning Sept. 1 and will introduce a new pricing structure for both services.
The new plan will see PDC transmission fees drop from 0.3 cents per packet regardless of volume to 0.2 cents per packet after 100,000 packets have been used. For the carrier’s third-generation service, price reductions will vary according to the number of packets consumed per month and individual billing plans.
The new pricing structure for both PDC and FOMA access to DoCoMo’s i-mode service will remain essentially unchanged with a slight drop in basic transmission charges offset by an increase in i-mode charges.
