OXFORD, United Kingdom-A survey of 38,000 text messaging users conducted by SMS.ac claimed that nearly 70 percent stated they are open to receiving messages from strangers, while just more than 20 percent registered an opposing point of view. Overall, the study indicated that cell-phone users are continuing to be sent a growing number of text messages per day, with nearly 35 percent of those surveyed claiming to receive between six and 30 short message service (SMS) messages in a typical 24-hour period.
