FRANKFURT, Germany-German weekly magazine Focus reported VoiceStream Wireless Corp. added 500,000 new customers during July and August, which was approximately the same number of customers the carrier added during the three months of the second quarter.
The magazine attributed VoiceStream’s strong showing in part to greater than expected customer additions in the carrier’s recently launched California and Nevada markets, where VoiceStream reportedly added 100,000 new customers since its launch in July. The carrier had originally expected to add around 40,000 customers following the launch.
