Seven slashes jobs

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.-Seven Networks Inc., which offers carrier-based access to corporate information, cut 30 percent of its roughly 115 employees, a move the company said would help it better manage cash flow and help it focus on its current customers.

Company spokeswoman Meredith Valt declined to give exact employee numbers. She said the company was forced to focus its attention on its current customers and will for the foreseeable future quit looking to score additional customers. Sprint PCS, Cingular Wireless and MmO2 all offer Seven’s services.

The company made a splash when it launched early last year. Bill Nguyen, who sold Onebox.com-now Openwave Systems Inc.-to Phone.com for $850 million, founded Seven and served as its president. He now works as its chief technology officer.
