BONN, Germany-T-Mobile Deutschland said it is the first European operator to launch video messaging, which allows users to send video clips via mobile phones. Japanese operators have already launched video messaging service.
Using the service, customers can record short films themselves and send them by e-mail or in the future by multimedia messaging service. The video sequences can be a maximum of 95 kilobits.
The service requires video messaging software installed on the Nokia 7650 phone. T-Mobile’s GPRS Profi tariff plan, which has a month charge of about $9.90, includes 1 megabyte of data or about 10 video messages. T-Mobile said it will charge about 28 cents for a 95-kilobit message for users who have used the allocated data volume.
