WALL, N.J.-Centennial Communications Corp. reported first quarter results ended Aug. 31 showing a loss of 23,000 wireless subscribers in its Caribbean and U.S. operations and ending the quarter with 883,800 total wireless customers.
The company noted 16,700 of those lost customers were in its Caribbean Wireless division and were mostly due to the loss of 30,200 subscribers in its recently divested Jamaica operations. Centennial said the loss of 6,300 subscribers in its U.S. operations was primarily due to a reduction in prepaid subscribers.
Average revenue per user fell from $63 and $60 in its Caribbean and U.S. operations respectively in the first quarter of 2001 to $59 and $58 this year. Customer churn in the United States fell from 2.7 percent to 2.4 percent, while in the Caribbean it increased from 3.7 percent to 4 percent.
