Metro One loses Cingular, adds AT&T Wireless as customer

PORTLAND, Ore.-Enhanced directory assistance provider Metro One Telecommunications Inc. said it will discontinue service for Cingular Wireless L.L.C. in California, Nevada and Washington after the contract related to the service expired last May. The Cingular contract accounted for approximately 5 percent of Metro One’s revenues.

Cingular plans to transfer subscriber calls in the affected markets to Southern New England Telephone Co., which is an SBC Communications Inc.-affiliated entity.

Metro One reported it has initiated its EDA services to AT&T Wireless Services Inc. subscribers in markets in the Southeast, including Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee, that were formerly operated under the SunCom brand name by TeleCorp PCS Inc.
