Verizon sells most of Telecom New Zealand stake

WELLINGTON, New Zealand-Verizon Communications has sold most of its 21.5-percent stake in Telecom New Zealand. Verizon sold its stake to Merrill Lynch, which then sold the shares to global institutional investors.

There was heavy demand from investors in New Zealand, Australia and internationally, Telecom New Zealand said.

Telecom New Zealand owns the country’s largest mobile operator.
