SAN FRANCISCO, United States-Telephia reported more than half of the overall U.S. population living in major metropolitan areas now own mobile phones and subscribe to service, according to ongoing measurements performed by the company in 44 markets.
Telephia said that while the average penetration rate was at 51 percent, a handful of cities had penetration rates in excess of 60 percent, including 68 percent in Greenville, South Carolina, 67 percent in Atlanta and St. Louis, 65 percent in Raleigh, North Carolina, 63 percent in Orlando, Florida, and 61 percent in Boston and Washington, D.C.
Telephia also reported recent results from its Attitude and Behavior Survey found the percentage of frequent wireless callers increased from 38 percent last year to 48 percent this year and that overall wireless satisfaction increased from 7.1 last year to 7.3 this year on a 10-point scale.
