LONDON-Wireless entertainment company Digital Bridges announced it is embarking on a major Java rollout, a move that will include selling a wide array of downloadable Java applications through retail outlets, wireless carriers, media companies, Web portals and Internet service providers.
“Java is the next significant step in the evolution of mobile entertainment into a profitable, mass-market industry and we are pushing this technology to the fullest,” said Brian Greasley, the company’s chief executive officer.
Digital Bridges plans to sell “gaming packs” that include its most popular Java titles at various retail stores in the United Kingdom. The company also plans to offer a Java-based pack of applications for the industry’s new line of camera phones.
“We will be rolling out our Java and download entertainment packs in our remaining European markets as well as in the U.S. and Canada before the end of this year, and obviously we will work towards broadening our offerings to include additional Java games packs and wider handset availability,” said Tony Pearce, the company’s head of retail.
