AMAZON STATE, Brazil-Citizens of Brazil will use the Globalstar satellite phone system to cast votes in the upcoming presidential elections.
Votes are cast on battery-operated voting machines, then transmitted back to Brazil’s election commission over a Globalstar handheld satellite phone connected to the voting machine. Election officials hope to collect all voting information within 24 hours, rather than the days or weeks it previously took to gather results.
