PARIS-Alcatel said it is establishing daily live third-generation UMTS mobile videophony communications between Asia and Europe. The company said it has been linking calls between its 3G Reality Centers in Europe and Asia during the past few months.
All the calls were made using 3GPP-compliant mobile handsets communicating over Alcatel’s Evolium Core and radio solutions. The company said the Asia handsets are able to reach 384 kilobits per second in packet switch mode and 64 kbps in circuit switch mode.
Alcatel has 3G Reality Centers in France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Singapore and Malaysia.
