MAARSSEN, The Netherlands-Wireless enterprise company iAnywhere Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase Inc., announced its mobile database technology will be integrated into a wireless ticketing trial for a Dutch railway company.
Under the six-month trial, which CMG Wireless Data Solutions is managing, a group of 500 rail passengers will be able to buy tickets using their mobile phone, and can receive a text messages with the confirmation number. Using a handheld device, the train conductor can then validate the number shown on passengers’ mobile phones. The Dutch public transportation company NoordNed began the trial last month.
“iAnywhere Solutions was approached by CMG as it needed a reliable solution that could ensure robust synchronization between NoordNed’s central database and the conductor’s mobile devices,” said Artie Jasperse of iAnywhere. “We have supplied our innovative SQL Anywhere Studio’s ultra-small database, UltraLite, that resides on the mobile device, and MobiLink, which provides scaleable and high performance data synchronization between the user and the central database.”
