BUENOS AIRES, Argentina-The Argentine government announced that before the end of the year it will deliver radio spectrum frequencies to 180 companies that will provide telecommunications services. The companies had placed orders for the licenses in September 2001.
In order to deliver the spectrum, Eduardo Marcelo Kohan, communications secretary, dictated Resolution Number 126/02, which fixes the value of the frequencies. The resolution establishes that in cases where there is only one offer-in the majority of the orders-the value of a 3.5 GHz license in Buenos Aires will cost US$1,000, and a 27 GHz license will cost US$4,000 in the same area.
