JOHANNESBURG, South Africa-A new black-owned subsidiary of Sebros Telecoms Solutions, called E’Voucher, has announced it will launch a prepaid recharge service for the GSM platform in South Africa.
Lesego Mosupye, the company’s chief executive, said the solution is the answer to the Third World’s prepaid communication needs. The system converts a normal GSM public phone kiosk into a point-of-sale device for prepaid vouchers for wireless subscriptions and other services, such as electricity.
There are estimated to be 30,000 GSM public phones in the South African market, with this number expected to grow significantly during the coming years.
Mosupye said the system is a unique solution for the market, and its advantages are that it is mobile and operates off existing infrastructure, meaning that dealers need no layout for new equipment. In addition, due to the fact that the prepaid tokens reside on a central server, the risk of fraud is reduced.
