TOKYO-The Japanese wireless local area network (WLAN) service market is expected be 71.9 billion yen (US$575 million) by 2006, nearly four times as much as the market in 2001, according to the Yano Research Institute, a major research company in Japan.
According to Yano, the shipping volume for WLAN equipment in 2001 doubled from the previous year, while prices for this equipment have dropped significantly. Yano said the market would reach 23.7 billion yen (US$189.6 million) in 2003.
