NEW DELHI, India-Sri Lankan operator Celltel Lanka has launched a set of secure m-commerce services on a short message service (SMS) platform.
The new service called CellWallet stores encrypted electronic information pertaining to a user’s credit cards, debit cards and bank accounts, and allows a user to issue payment instructions from his or her mobile phone without transmitting sensitive data over the air.
The company used “mzone avatar” solution developed by Network 365 and hSenid, a local software development partner, according to reports in the island’s media.
Celltel has also introduced SMS Banking Server, a mobile banking solution, which enables subscribers to execute basic bank account operations anytime, anywhere over their mobile devices.
