SEOUL, South Korea-The Korea Communications Commission banned the country’s three mobile-phone carriers, SK Telecom, KTF and LG Telecom, from accepting new subscribers for up to 30 days, according to the Korea Times.
The banning is a penalty for breaking rules about offering phone subsidies to new customers.
SK Telecom cannot accept customers for 30 days, while KTF and LG must wait 20 days.
MIC has banned mobile operators from providing handset subsidies to curb “excessive” market competition. The companies were each fined earlier this year for subsidizing handsets for new subscribers.
