SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-A patent infringement lawsuit brought by ISCO International Inc. against SuperConductor Technologies Inc. and Conductus Inc. came a step closer to a close this week.
In a Markman Hearing, in which the court defines the meaning of terms in the patent claims, the court sided with ISCO, adopting ISCO’s proposed claim construction on the issues at stake. However, following the decision, STI and Conductus issued a release regarding the ruling, saying the Markman decision strengthened their positions in the infringement case.
ISCO’s Chief Executive Officer Amr Abdelmonem responded, “It is puzzling that STI and Conductus could find encouragement from the substantive Markman rulings. We are content to let this process continue on the present path in court.”
The companies are scheduled to go to trial March 17, 2003.
