New Jersey State Senate passes driving while talking ban

WASHINGTON-The New Jersey State Senate has joined in the distracted driving ban chorus by passing legislation that would ban the use of handheld wireless phones while driving.

The bill has now been sent to the New Jersey State Assembly. If it is passed by the assembly and signed into law in its current form, driving while holding a handheld wireless phone will be a secondary offense, meaning a driver cannot be pulled over for talking and driving but can be given an additional fine if stopped for another reason.
