Sega, Nokia to jointly develop mobile game software

TOKYO-Sega, a leading game soft developer in Japan, and Nokia, the largest handset manufacturer in the world, will jointly develop game software for mobile handsets, Nokia said.

Sega, once a leading video game platform developer, has evolved into a software developer after the charismatic founder of Sega, Isao Okawa, died. Sega has been developing game software for not only its own video game console, Dreamcast, but also for other makers’ platforms, including Nintendo’s Gameboy and Gamecube.

Tetsu Kayama, chief operating officer (COO) of Sega, said in cooperation with Nokia, Sega would be able to develop new types of mobile game software.
