SAN JOSE, Calif.-Investors roared their approval of a new deal between synchronization company Pumatech Inc. and Microsoft Corp.’s MSN business, sending Pumatech’s stock up almost 75 percent to $1.45 per share.
Under the deal, Microsoft’s MSN service will use Pumatech’s Intellisync software to provide synchronization between users’ MSN accounts and Microsoft Outlook software, Pocket PC handheld devices and Palm Desktop software.
Synchronization technology is quickly becoming an important topic in wireless, as users look to take desktop computer information with them on wireless devices. A variety of companies offer synchronization technologies, and several-including Pumatech-have lately become involved in patent disputes over the technology.
