IDA enables text messaging for two-way radio

FARGO, N.D.-IDA Corp., Fargo, N.D., has made commercially available Know-it NOW, an interface that lets cell phones enabled with text messaging to query the company’s Global Trakit Data Center for the address locations of vehicles or equipment units anywhere in the United States.

“The cellular text messaging interface to IDA’s Trakit Nationwide and Trakit RF/IP GPS vehicle tracking system provides a huge expansion to remote asset fleet management,” said John Kruse, chief executive officer of IDA. “The marriage of these two technologies provides a quantum leap in utility that will dramatically increase productivity and improve safety for virtually every application.”

IDA, which designs and manufactures land mobile communications equipment, counts among its customers 4,000 two-way radio dealers and specialized mobile radio operators.
