SURABAYA, Indonesia-PT Telkom, Indonesia’s state-owned telecom company, launched its limited mobility service to retail customers this week.
The so-called TelkomFlexi service employs cdma2000 1x technology and comes with two pricing schemes, prepaid and postpaid.
Hari Triyuono, Telkom’s assistant vice president of external communication, said TelkomFlexi is intended to meet customer needs that are not fulfilled by its existing wireline infrastructures. In the first steps, the service is available in Surabaya, the country’s second-largest city, for 25,000 lines.
He further explained TelkomFlexi is equipped with features commonly available in cellular, such as call-line identification presence, three-party calling, and voice mail with future upgrade planned for short message service (SMS), multimedia messaging service (MMS) and Web services capability.
He added the prepaid service will be more expensive than postpaid, considering there would be not be subscription fees.
