Ericsson signs service agreement with Mobilkom Austria

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Austrian operator Mobilkom Austria has awarded L.M. Ericsson a service assurance contract with an undisclosed value. The agreement will allow Mobilkom Austria to have one focus point for monitoring network and application performance, Ericsson said.

The system delivered to Austria’s leading wireless carrier includes integration services, processes, managing software tools, and supporting multi-vendor, multi-technology and multi-service network environments in open standards. It will be used for all European operators controlled by Mobilkom Austria, including VIPnet in Croatia, Si.mobil in Slovenia and Mobilkom Liechtenstein, as well as the Austrian operation.

Mobilkom Austria is expected to be one of the first European operators to launch commercial UMTS service. In September, it made its UMTS service to a small group of users and expects to launch commercial service in the first half of 2003.
