BOSTON-The Asia-Pacific region continues to thrive, even during a down economy, and both wireless subscribers and service revenues are continuing to expand at a “steady pace,” according to the Yankee Group.
The region will see a continuation in new networks, although not as many as originally forecast, and high subscriber additions from China and India specifically, the market research firm said.
Messaging traffic from short message service and multimedia message service increased in developing markets, and multimodal and business applications increased in developed markets. The increasing data traffic will offset declining voice minutes of use and revenues, the group predicted.
