LONDON-British Telecommunications said it will sell its nearly 21-percent interest in Hong Kong’s SmarTone for HK$1.03 billion (US$132 million) to Sun Hung Kai. The U.K.-based operator said the sale is part of its plan to dispose of non-core assets and reduce its huge debt load.
Sun Hung Kai already owns a controlling share of the operator, which is the third-largest mobile operator in Hong Kong’s highly competitive wireless market.
