BEIJING, China-Nokia Corp. said it has signed a $70 million contract to expand Beijing Mobile Communications Company Ltd.’s GSM network.
It also will provide services that will enhance the capacity and features of the short message service centers, provide GPRS core network and technical support.
“Under the agreement, Nokia will provide a full range of equipment, including both GSM core and radio-access infrastructure and deploy Nokia’s GPRS solution in BMCC’s network to greatly boost its capacity to handle popular text messaging and GPRS services, as well as an ever-growing volume of GSM voice traffic,” said Nokia in a press release.
