SUNNYVALE, Calif.-AMD, a supplier of integrated circuits, and M-Systems Inc., a Newark, Calif.-based developer of Flash-based data storage products, will expand their existing collaboration in order to develop hardware and software solutions for the mobile data storage marketplace.
“Consumers are demanding a variety of increasingly sophisticated products such as cell phones and personal digital assistants capable of supporting multimedia applications enabled by increasingly higher bandwidth networks,” the companies said.
“These compact wireless products require intelligent multi-chip-package (MCP) solutions that efficiently combine code storage, (which is) operating system software that tells the device how to function, with additional data storage capabilities for video, MP3 or document files, among others.”
