NEW DELHI, India-Leading Thai GSM player AIS announced it will spend about 8 billion baht (US$187 million) on network expansion and services during 2003.
This information was given by officials of the Shinawatra group, which owns AIS, at a press conference in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, the second-largest mobile-phone operator in Thailand, TAC, said it registered 35 percent more new subscribers in December 2002 than in the previous month. At the end of 2002, TAC had 5.45 million subscribers, of which 77 percent were prepaid clients, compared with 2.8 million a year earlier.
