MANILA, The Philippines-Smart Communications Inc. has become the second operator worldwide and the first in Asia to offer a Microsoft-powered smart phone, following Orange U.K. last year. Smart is the largest mobile operator in the Philippines.
Smart said the “Smart Amazing Phone,” featuring Pocket Outlook, Pocket Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and MSN Messenger, will be available in retail outlets soon. Each phone will be sold with an attachable camera, the operator said.
The tri-band handset offers GPRS and multimedia messaging service capabilities. Smart did not name the manufacturer of the device.
