CANNES, France-The 2003 GSM Association Awards were presented this week in conjunction with the 3GSM World Congress being held in Cannes, France.
In the technology innovation category, Sharp Corp. won for the Sharp GX10 handheld and Telos Technology and Globecomm Systems Inc. won for Telos’ packet switching technology.
In the applications and services category, Commtag won for its Duality Always-on Mail for the corporate market, Vodafone Group plc was awarded for Vodafone live! for the consumer market and 3G LAB was named the best wireless application developer.
In the marketing and promotions category, Vodafone Group won for its Vodafone live! TV commercial and Entel PCS won for its XAT marketing campaign.
And in the wireless in the community category, XIAM was awarded for its XIAM Information Router used by the West Midlands police, MTN Networks was awarded for its SMS Blood Appeal, a matching and donor management application.
Finally, Sir Christopher Gent, chief executive officer of Vodafone Group, was given the GSM Association Chairman’s award for “his outstanding personal contribution to the growth and success of the global GSM industry over the last two decades.”
