PALO ALTO, Calif.-Agilent Technologies Inc. said it plans to lay off 4,000 more workers as part of its plans to cut costs and move to profitability.
The test-and-measuring equipment maker also said it suffered a net loss of $369 million, or 78 cents a share in the quarter ended January 1.
“Our first-quarter results were disappointing,” said chairman, president and chief executive Ned Barnholt said.
The company had laid off 8,000 in the previous fiscal year.
