DOVER, N.J.-Casio Computer Co. and Alps Electric say they have developed a small fingerprint scanner to enhance security in cell phones and other mobile devices.
The product, which is short, thin and cylindrical, comprises a sensor, light and lens and can produce an 8-level monochrome fingerprint image at 600 dots per inch resolution, according to both companies.
