PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago-Using the Ripwave system from Navini Networks Inc., Richardson, Texas, West Indian Telecommunications Inc., doing business as WINTEL, has deployed the first non-line-of-site wireless broadband network in this nation’s capital.
Within a year, WINTEL plans to expand its broadband service, brand-named Nomad Ripwave, into residential areas throughout the two islands.
Miami-based Allplus Computer Systems Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcateia Corp., Sao Paulo, Brazil, is serving as a reseller and deployment partner and reseller for WINTEL’s Nomad Ripwave service.
“At present, there are limited options available and limiting factors for service providers to be able to reach the customer premises with a quality service, especially for those wanting broadband access from various locations,” said Cedric Branch, chairman of WINTEL. “It is our intent to provide solutions for these problems with a cost-effective network capable of service-level differentiation.”
