Siemens announces handsets, agreements at CTIA

NEW ORLEANS-Siemens Information and Communication Mobile made several announcements at CTIA Wireless 2003 this week in New Orleans.
The company announced its SX1 mobile phone for U.S. consumers will be available in the third quarter. The SX1 has strips of keys built into each side of the phone, rather than an ordinary keypad. The high-resolution color screen is centered in the device, with central navigation keys located below the screen. The handset is a triple band 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM phone that can be used internationally.

The company also introduced its M56 mobile phone for U.S. customers, which will be available in the fourth quarter. The GSM dual-band 850/1900 MHz phone includes a light effect built into the side o fthe phone that can be programmed to blink in a custom pattern. The phone has an optional clip-on mobile camera.

The SL56 phone for U.S. customers will be available during the third quarter. The GSM dual-band 850/1900 MHz phone incorporates a “slider” design, which users slide open to make calls.

Together with AT&T Wireless Services Inc., Siemens announced the availibility this month of the C56 phone and the S56 during the second quarter. Both phones are dual-mode 850/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS phones that feature polyphonic sound capabilities, Java technology and a WAP 1.2.1 browser.

Finally, Siemens announced its triple band 800/900/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS MC45 wireless module was selected as an option for the Intermec 700 Color mobile computer product line made by Intermec Technologies Corp.
