BEIJING-Fraudsters in the central Chinese city of Hangzhou are facing a rude awakening.
Touting fake products and services through postcard-sized ads posted along the city’s streets, the petty criminals are confronted with voice messages once they switch on their cell phones, admonishing: “You have broken the law by posting illegal ads. You must immediately stop this activity and go to the Hangzhou Urban Administrative Bureau for punishment,” the Shanghai Daily reported.
The message will be repeated every 20 seconds, making their handsets useless.
Facing rising unemployment, some Chinese are reduced to peddling fake identification and diplomas.
Callers receive a message that the service has been stopped.
