Probe Research establishes financial research arm

CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J.-The principals of Probe Research, a 26-year-old telecommunications and Internet market research firm, have established a sister company, Probe Financial Associates, whose goal is to provide independent research about financial developments in these industries.

Victor Schnee, founder and president of both Probe companies, is a Harvard College and Law School graduate who has served with the U.S. Justice Department Antitrust and Tax Division and with the New York law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton.

Allan Tumolillo, chief operating officer of both Probe companies, is a University of Illinois alumnus who has authored numerous reports on telecommunications since 1985, covering topics that include Open Network Architecture and Integrated Services Digital Network.

Schnee and Tumolillo collaborated on a report, released in 2001, entitled “Super Competitor: Dominating the New Era of Telecom-Wireless Internet.”

“There has been a strongly expressed need for research that is financially oriented but not compromised by issues that have afflicted much of the traditional investment community,” Schnee said.

“All companies in the telecom and related industries are asking the same questions. These firms all want to know either how well they’re doing or how well others they compete with are doing.

“Market research and competitive analysis are part of the picture, but corporate leaders and investment professionals also need to understand the financial realities to make appropriate business and investment decisions. These include who’s going to survive and who is going to lead an industry revival.”
