LAS VEGAS-Semtek released the Side Swipe II, the latest addition to its Mobile Swipe family, at the Electronic Transactions Association’s 2003 Annual Meeting & Expo this week.
Side Swipe II is a three-track magnetic stripe card reader that allows mobile phones to act as point of sale terminals so merchants can process mobile credit card transactions. Semtek’s Mobile Swipe line of products includes card readers for mobile phones, Pocket PCs and other personal digital assistant devices.
Semtek sees opportunities for mobile card readers in several industries including taxi, limousine and other transportation services; delivery services; at-home services; construction; fairs and swap meets.
