U.S. public-safety score improves

FAIRFAX, Va.-The nation’s public-safety interoperability score has improved 41 percent since 2001, according to the Public Safety Wireless Network (PSWN) Program’s National Interoperability Scorecard, which measures public safety wireless communications interoperability. The score was 57.65 on a scale of 100 for 2003, up from 40.82 in 2001.

The scores measure interoperability based on: shared systems development, coordination and partnerships, funding, spectrum, standards and technology and security. According to PSWN, the 2003 score reflects the most significant improvements in security, standards and technology and coordination and partnerships.
