TOKYO—NTT DoCoMo, the largest mobile operator in Japan, announced it will grant a 37.8 billion yen (US$315 million) loan to Hutchison 3G U.K. Holding. NTT DoCoMo holds 20 percent of the company.
Hutchison made financial calls to partners DoCoMo and Dutch company KPN Mobile earlier this year for cash necessary for its 3G rollout in the United Kingdom.
NTT DoCoMo also announced it concluded a bilateral agreement on third-generation (3G) services with Hutchison 3G U.K. parent company Hutchison Whampoa. Under the service agreement, NTT DoCoMo will provide technologies from NTT DoCoMo’s 3G FOMA service to the Hong Kong-based company for its 3G subsidiaries. NTT DoCoMo announced a similar agreement with Singapore Telecom yesterday (see DoCoMo partners with SingTel Mobile, to sell advanced PDA).
