REDMOND, Wash.-AT&T Wireless Services Inc. reported $3.9 billion in revenues during the first quarter of this year, which was a 9.3 percent increase compared with the $3.6 billion the carrier reported for the first three months of 2002.
Net income available to common shareholders increased from a loss of $178 million last year, or 7 cents per share, to a profit of $135 million, or 5 cents per share.
The company added that it signed up 283,000 net subscribers during the first quarter, which was less than half the 650,000 net subscriber additions the carrier reported for the first quarter of 2002. Customer churn dropped from 2.6 percent during the first quarter of 2002 to 2.3 percent this year while average revenue per user remained relatively flat at $58.70 during the quarter.
