Convergys, Cingular settle lawsuit

CINCINNATI-Convergys Corp. reported that Cingular Wireless L.L.C. informed the company that it had settled a lawsuit brought against its Cincinnati SMSA Ltd. Partnership joint venture by Westside Cellular Inc. that claimed the defendants violated 1985 and 1993 Public Utilities Commission of Ohio orders to provide services to resellers at fair prices and denied Westside access to the market.

Convergys said it would pay $9.9 million of the settlement as part of its 45-percent ownership in the Cincinnati SMSA that it received when it spun off from Cincinnati Bell in 1998.
