TOKYO-Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications reported a net loss of $115 million for the quarter, down from the small profit it made in the same quarter last year. The company also said it sold 5.4 million phones in the quarter, 400,000 phones less than the same quarter last year.
Sony Corp., which jointly owns the mobile-phone maker with Ericsson, said the poor results are due to increased pricing pressure and new product expenses.
Separately, Kyocera Corp. said its net profits rose 29 percent on sales of printers and camera phones.
