SUNNYVALE, Calif.-Wireless e-mail company Good Technology Inc. is acquiring the assets of wireless enterprise software provider Neomar Inc. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Good will gain Neomar’s wireless enterprise platform, as well as six of the company’s 25 employees. Good said it will include Neomar’s technology in the next version of its GoodInfo wireless enterprise server.
Neomar sold servers to businesses and wireless carriers. The company’s software delivered applications over a range of networks and devices. Good offers similar services, but is also selling a wireless e-mail device with a tiny keyboard.
Good will formally announce the acquisition in a press release Wednesday. Word of the company’s move leaked out in media reports Monday.
Interestingly, Research In Motion Ltd. is an investor in Neomar. Good and RIM are locked in a heated legal battle. Further, Cingular Wireless is one of Neomar’s customers. The carrier also resells services and devices from RIM, as well as Good.
That Good is moving to acquire some of its competitors is not surprising; mergers and acquisitions have become commonplace in the wireless enterprise space. For example, Motorola Inc. recently sold its Starfish Software Inc. synchronization subsidiary to Pumatech Inc.
