NEW YORK-There is still work for Henry Schacht, Lucent Technologies Inc.’s former chairman and chief executive officer, at his former company for a princely $55,000 a month.
The company will pay Schacht to help Lucent cut costs and put an end to its litigation troubles. He will consult for the company as senior adviser.
The company, which has cut its staff in half during the past couple of years, believes it is on the path to profitability. Shacht has already retired twice as chairman of the U.S.-based company, which started its downward spiral on his watch.
