PALO ALTO, Calif.-Siemens Information and Communication Mobile said it created a new operations support system for its wireless carrier customers, a move the company said gives operators a single point of contact to implement infrastructure products from companies including Hewlett-Packard Co., Micromuse, PSI, Steria, Tertio and TTI.
Under Siemens’ new OSS Partner Program, the company will offer a full range of OSS competencies that will be integrated to support Siemens’ wireless infrastructure and developed with Siemens technical cooperation. Siemens will act either as a prime contractor to the operator or as an agent to its partners when a specific OSS vendor recommendation is requested.
Separately, Siemens partner HP announced Telecom Italia will use its Integrated Service Management product to manage its new Wi-Fi trial service.
In other OSS news, Agilent Technologies Inc. introduced three solutions to collect and analyze data for GSM and GPRS systems. They include OSS data mining toolkit, OSS GPRS Session trace ad acceSS7 hardware.
“Furthering Agilent’s wireless data offering, the new solutions solve critical operations and business challenges, such as identifying problems in real-time; locating and assessing network and service outages; and understanding the acceptance, availability and performance of new GPRS services,” said the company.
On Monday, Agilent reported revenue of $1.47 billion for the fiscal second quarter ended April 30 and a GAAP net loss of $146 million or 31 cents per share. The revenue was in line with revenue during the past six quarters, the company said.
