Motorola govt. sector awarded Baldrige award

WASHINGTON-Motorola’s Commercial Government and Industrial Solutions Sector was one of three organizations awarded the 2002 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award by Vice President Dick Cheney and Commerce Secretary Don Evans.

“With a focus on continuous improvement, the Baldrige award-winning organizations have made excellence a part of their culture,” explained Evans. “The recipients represent the best of American organizations, and they are models for others to learn from and emulate.”

Motorola was recognized for an increase of 32 percent in employee productivity from 1999 to 2002 and an 88-percent increase in overall customer satisfaction and repurchase/recommendation satisfaction levels during the same time frame.

Other winners were small business Branch-Smith Printing and health care organization SSM Health Care.
