Patent fees to increase under legislation passed by House subcommittee

WASHINGTON-Patent user fees would increase, but receipts collected by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office would no longer be diverted to other government programs under legislation passed by a House Judiciary subcommittee. With more money, the PTO hopes to improve the processing of patent applications, especially those submitted by fast-moving telecom and high-tech firms.
